I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT WITH A POLICE OFFICER, HOW DO I KNOW IF IT WAS MY FAULT OR HIS?

The light was green, I was going to cross the intersection and about 4-5 car leghts before I got to cross the intersection a cop that was on the left lane to turn left pulled out right in front of me. He did not use a signal or turned on his emergency lights. His light to turn left was red so I guess he decide it to go straight. I was to close so I hit him on the passanger side back bumber but he only had a scratch, my car’s front pumber from the driver side was damaged and also the fender. The police report is not ready so I am stressing because I cant afford to fix my car and I feel that he was at fault but I dont know what the result will be once the report is done.

He’s a police officer? I think youll find it was your fault.
